Why Listen to Matt Landsborough on Real Estate Investing

In an industry overflowing with self proclaimed gurus and experts selling expensive coaching programs, I think it is fair for you to ask why you should listen to anything I have to say about real estate investing. It is a question I actually welcome, because the answer is straightforward and I think it sets me apart from many of the voices you will encounter in this space.

I Make My Living from Real Estate Income, Not from Selling Real Estate Training

This is the single most important thing I want you to understand about who I am and what I do. My income comes from owning, managing, and growing a portfolio of real estate investments. I am not a motivational speaker. I do not run a six month mentorship program that costs thousands of dollars. I do not sell courses, books, or seminar tickets as my primary source of revenue.

The reason this matters is that my incentives are aligned with providing accurate, practical information. If I give you bad advice about real estate investing, it would be bad advice that would also hurt my own portfolio if I followed it. I have no financial incentive to oversimplify, exaggerate, or mislead you because I am not trying to sell you a product. I am sharing what I have learned from years of doing this professionally.

I Have Already Achieved Financial Independence Through Real Estate

I created a real estate portfolio that allowed me to achieve financial independence. That is the primary goal of most serious real estate investors, and I have already done it. I generate significant monthly income from my portfolio and I have successfully diversified both my properties and my income streams.

I am not speaking from theory or repeating strategies I read about in a book. Every piece of advice I share on this website and in my consultations comes from real world experience. I have made deals that worked brilliantly and I have made mistakes that cost me real money. Both types of experience inform the guidance I provide to my clients and joint venture partners.

Formal Education and Professional Training

In addition to practical experience, I hold a formal education from the UBC Sauder School of Business Real Estate Division. This program is one of the most respected real estate education programs in Canada and it provided me with a deep understanding of the legal, financial, and analytical foundations of the real estate industry.

My education and years of professional experience mean that I am actually exempt from the professional examination requirements to become a registered realtor, broker, or property manager in British Columbia. I chose not to pursue those designations because they do not align with my focus on investing and consulting, but the fact that I qualify for exemptions speaks to the depth of my training and expertise.

I believe that combining formal education with practical experience produces the best results. Theory without practice is academic and practice without theory is risky. I bring both to the table.

A Track Record of Success with Joint Venture Partners

I do not just invest on my own. Through Dwell Logic, I work with joint venture partners and investors who trust me with their capital. This is a responsibility I take very seriously. The systems, processes, and due diligence standards I have built over the years are not just for my own benefit. They exist to protect my partners’ investments and to ensure that we are consistently making sound, profitable decisions together.

The fact that investors choose to partner with me and continue to do so on additional deals is perhaps the strongest endorsement of my capabilities. People do not continue to invest their hard earned money with someone who does not deliver results.

Why I Share My Knowledge

I believe that the real estate investing industry would benefit enormously from more transparency and less hype. Too many people are intimidated away from real estate investing by the complexity of the jargon and the aggressive sales tactics of the coaching industry. My goal with this blog and with Dwell Logic as a whole is to demystify real estate investing and make it accessible to anyone who is willing to learn and put in the effort.

Whether you end up investing with Dwell Logic, investing on your own, or deciding that real estate is not for you, I want you to have access to honest, practical information that helps you make the best decision for your own situation. That is what this blog is all about.
